PHILIPP SCHENK-MISCHKE is a recent graduate of the Royal College of Art and currently based in London, UK. His work focusses on interventions into systems, relationships and processes with the intention to cultivate a critical approach towards our relationship with what surrounds us, blurring the line between creative disciplines.
These ceramics get deformed on a body vibration plate right after demoulding. The plate, with its origin in the fitness industry, is a hijacked tool to explore new ideas and processes. My work aims to question traditional methods in a post-internet era. It interferes by misapplying materials with findings from online-shops or DIY stores, and contributes to the debate of rethinking old links that we begin to perceive as natural - a powerful tool to create new experiences without new resources.

NIKE ON AIR - THE LONDON DEPARTMENT X STOREPROJECTS
We were asked by Storeprojects to organise a day of workshops for Nike's "On Air - The London Department" event. 50 students from state schools around Hackney, Islington and Camden participated in two workshops that introduced them to the themes of "Colour and Material" and "Industrial Design".

A series of objects that emerged from the idea to pour a liquid into pre drilled channels that turns into a solid dowel once it hardens. This way, materials that are usually complicated to connect can be joined, with the possibility to choose the material of the joint itself according to its requirements. The first objects realised this way are made out of broken crema-marfil marble slabs, waterjet-cut and black anodised aluminium shapes and recycled aluminium that is poured into the aforementioned channels. The spillage becomes a blob that sits on top of the joint, similar to a normal and universal screw head, but more reminiscent of jewellery that lends itself to the world of highly economical construction methods.
